Period III (Chalcolithic)
Paintings indicate an association of these cave-dwellers with the agricultural communities settled at Malwa.
Cross-hatched squares, lattices, pottery and metal tools are depicted.
Colours used in Bhimbetka paintings – white, yellow, orange, red ochre, purple, brown, green and black. Most common colours – white and red.
🧠Red obtained from haematite (geru); green from chalcedony; white probably from limestone.
🧠Brushes were made from plant fibre.
🧠In some places, there are many layers of paintings, sometimes 20.
🧠Paintings can be seen in caves that were used as dwelling places and also in caves that had some other purpose, perhaps religious.
🧠The colours of the paintings have remained intact thousands of years perhaps due to the chemical reaction of the oxide present on the rock surface

पेंटिंग इन गुफा-निवासियों के मालवा में बसे कृषि समुदायों के साथ जुड़ाव का संकेत देती हैं।
क्रॉस-हैचेड वर्ग, जाली, मिट्टी के बर्तन और धातु के औजारों को चित्रित किया गया है।
भीमबेटका चित्रों में प्रयुक्त रंग – सफेद, पीला, नारंगी, गेरुआ लाल, बैंगनी, भूरा, हरा और काला। सबसे आम रंग – सफेद और लाल।
हेमेटाइट (गेरू) से प्राप्त लाल; चैलेडोनी से हरा; सफेद शायद चूना पत्थर से।
🧠ब्रश पौधे के रेशे से बनाए जाते थे।
🧠कुछ स्थानों पर चित्रों की कई परतें हैं, कभी-कभी 20।
🧠पेंटिंग उन गुफाओं में देखी जा सकती हैं जिनका उपयोग निवास स्थान के रूप में किया जाता था और उन गुफाओं में भी जिनका कोई अन्य उद्देश्य था, शायद धार्मिक।
🧠चित्रों के रंग हजारों वर्षों से बरकरार हैं, शायद चट्टान की सतह पर मौजूद ऑक्साइड की रासायनिक प्रतिक्रिया के कारण
