The Sentence ( Semantic Types):

Sentences may be declarative, interrogative, imperative, or exclamatory.

1. A declarative sentence declares or asserts something as a fact (एक घोषणात्मक वाक्य किसी तथ्य के रूप में किसी बात की घोषणा या दावा करता है).

Dickens wrote “David Copperfield.”
The army approached the city.

2. An interrogative sentence asks a question (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य प्रश्न पूछता है).

Who is that officer?
Does Arthur Moore live here?

3. An imperative sentence expresses a command or a request (आज्ञावाचक वाक्य किसी आदेश या अनुरोध को व्यक्त करता है).

Open the window.
Pronounce the vowels more distinctly.

4. An exclamatory sentence expresses surprise, grief, or some other emotion in the form of an exclamation or cry (एक विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्य विस्मयादिबोधक या रोने के रूप में आश्चर्य, शोक या किसी अन्य भावना को व्यक्त करता है).

How calm the sea is!
What a noise the engine makes!

A declarative, an interrogative, or an imperative sentence is also exclamatory, if it is uttered in an intense or excited tone of voice (एक घोषणात्मक, एक पूछताछ, या एक अनिवार्य वाक्य भी विस्मयादिबोधक है, अगर यह आवाज की तीव्र या उत्साहित स्वर में बोली जाती है।).
